Getting Started:
To get started, you’ll need to open up the Left 4 Dead 2 model you want to edit in your modeling program. We’ll be using Blender in this example.
Once you have the model open in Blender, you’ll need to select the faces you want to edit. To do this, go into Edit Mode and select the faces you want to change.
Once you have the faces selected, you can start editing them however you like. For example, you could add facial hair to a survivor, or change their hairstyle.
When you’re finished editing the model, you’ll need to save it as a .mdl file. To do this, go to File > Export > Left 4 Dead 2 Model (.mdl).
Now that you have your edited model saved as a .mdl file, you’ll need to open it in a text editor. We’ll be using Notepad++ in this example.
In the text editor, you’ll need to find the line that says "model" and change the name of the model to the name of your edited model. For example, if you edited the model for the survivor Ellis, you would change the line to say "model Ellis_edited".
Save the file and close the text editor. Now, all you need to do is copy your edited model file into the Left 4 Dead 2 "models" folder and you’re all set! Your edited model will now be used in-game.
