Continue the Left 4 Dead Story or Give Us a Prequel…

We asked the question “Should Left 4 Dead 3 be a prequel or continue where L4D 2 left off?” on our Facebook Page. A whopping 80% voted to continue the Left 4 Dead story line. I was shocked by the large discrepancy between the two choices. The idea of a prequel intrigues me and I was expecting at least 30-35% of the voters would like a prequel. What I find intriguing about a L4D prequel is there are many back stories that can be filled in. The first being how the infection started, its root cause. From there a story about the survivors from both games could be introduced and maybe even some side characters such as Jimmy Gibbs, Chicago Ted, and Ellis’ much talked about Keith. The possibilities are almost endless when the subject is a world wide zombie apocalypse. Aren’t you the least bit curious or is a continued story line more important?

I ask those of you reading this, in what direction should the Left 4 Dead 3 story go? Do you want to see some form of a prequel, a continuation from Left 4 Dead 2, or an entire new set of survivors parallel to L4D 1 and 2?

  • i think you should continue l4d3 from a scene cut where bill dies and as time goes on the lot from l4d2 team up with the the last 3 from l4d1 but then show them older so you can see the time passing and seeing that noone is doing anything about the out break but the way i think some of this should be based in a militery base showing them heading to one but in this one you should be able to drive jeeps and stuff

    • To add onto the Bill part, it would be awesome to have a boss battle against Zombie Bill in order to get to a helicopter or something.

  • For me I wish there was away new players can join.. Have it in a new city.. My be nyc or Michigan to bring the explore new places.. A 6 on 6 death match or team game play....

  • do something totally new! like with the special infected! but I like the idea of the four characters from both games join together , I like that idea. just make the special infected different!(:

  • I think they should maje new characters, like l4d1 and 2 maybe give a custom character slot that alloes us to make our own charactsr stories to forfill everyones wishes. But i think they should come in contact with nick from l4d2 which left the others after a mass breakout at the safe zone and he went to LA which is where he was supposed to go before the apocolypse. But further down the line find rochelle nick and coach (wounded). Maybe add an asian character since there hasnt been any

  • I think it should be a prequel yes I would like to see new characters becaus I did not like bill and coche was pretty cool I did npt like francise bum knee yea I would like to see new caraecter and by the way Im glade you killed off bill But I would love to see rochell sexy self.

  • I would love to be able to make my own avatar and in the missions you could bump into the original characters and help them or they can help you. I actually think it would be awesome if there were finally a mmorpg that you payed for monthly!!

  • Probably sequel but with more story development of what is going on besides with the four of them [also add cut scenes and maybe audio/video diaries], more background info on what happened in previous situation with the army and stuff. The part in the comic where they said more or less needing to find more 'carriers' and fighting together strikes as an interesting idea.. so more or less a continuation on both ends I guess.

What I also would add is more survivors besides the main characters that are actually visible.. every person that saves or helps (or screws) you you cant even see.. [example] like when the boat drives away and stuff there's just a Grey square inside..

I guess I would like them to kinda tie all the strings together and make the player feel is more like an involved story that ties together along the levels I guess.
